Green growth, an opportunity for the cross-border region

We work towards a green, competitive, and sustainable Nordic region. Green growth, sustainability, bioeconomy, and environmental investments are high on the agenda in both Sweden and Norway. Green growth connects environment and economy and is also one of the focus areas of the Svinesund Committee.

Utilizing the forest is an age-old tradition with significant potential for a revival. Many companies in the wood industry have excellent opportunities for growth.

A political goal is to create more jobs in the region and increase demand for sustainable solutions. However, to succeed in existing businesses, a systematic approach to innovation is required. Here, we collaborate with innovation actors to encourage wood industry companies to invest more in new ideas. It is crucial to disseminate knowledge about the possibilities and conditions for sustainable production. The Svinesund Committee plays a role in promoting business opportunities and eliminating border barriers. We collaborate with the Association of European Border Regions (AEBR) and the European Commission in this effort.
