Blue growth
Blue growth and the blue bioeconomy are areas experiencing growth, bringing more jobs and businesses across the Nordic region. The Svinesund Committee aims to highlight the cross-border added value in national maritime strategies. Biological resources are crucial to strengthening the cross-border region around Skagerrak. We seek to secure access to healthy and productive seas and coastal areas for the future.
The region around Svinesund shares a common coastline and is an integral part of Skagerrak. Here, the sea takes center stage with coastal fishing, large industries for fish processing, marine national parks, and vibrant coastal communities. In the cross-border region, there are small and medium-sized enterprises with new, exciting ideas and products within the blue bioeconomy.
Our task is to assist these businesses in developing their products, operations, and collaborations across borders. Blue growth and the blue bioeconomy offer services and products for the entire global market. From a Nordic and Norwegian-Swedish perspective, it is crucial that this growth aligns with the United Nations’ global environmental goals. With the blue bioeconomy, we have significant opportunities to increase food production and obtain high-value products for recreation and well-being. Fish, seafood, and algae are popular foods. We can achieve more healthy foods and new products by developing aquaculture.
